Hello everyone.
So it's been quite some time since I last posted anything on this blog. This time round it'll be different, I swear.
You see, I have now started my new college in Denmark and am now halfway through 2nd year. Along with 2nd year on the International Business Baccalaureate line there comes a 2nd year study trip. Here we, the students, can choose between 4 destinations: Dublin (Ireland), San Diego (America), Durham (England) and Ottawa (Canada).
Of course I chose Durham in the Nothern England; how unpredictable.
Seeing as I'm going back for 8 weeks I thought it could be nice to sort of open up for the blog again.
So here we are.
Well, it's kinda the same procedure as 3 years ago, however this time I am more mature and ready for adventures and challenges. I am goign to, again, live with a host family along with one of my friends. Although we are going to live with a host family, the agency (the college basically) has sent out a mail saying that there is a lack of host families and some of us (the ones who are 18 and over) might have to live in dorms with other young people we might not know. This is definitely a thing that scares me, because even though we might have seperate rooms we will have to live with each other for 8 weeks. I don't know any of them, because they are from outside, and I don't know how they are and if they are tidy or not. That sort of freaks me out.
Anyway, whilst being over there I am going to experience everything and I am so excited to do so!
I will probably hunt down everyone from Geordie Shore and go out in the night like them, however I am a bit scared I might come home with an orange tan and longer eyelashes than my actual hair.
The college I will be attending has arranged a trip to the Warner Bros studio where Harry Potter was shot and I cannot wait to experience that. I will be standing on Platform 9 3/4 imagining I am getting on that train to Hogwarts. Yes, I am a fan.
I look forward to being a geordie for a short period of time. Although I will probably never actually fit under that category, I will definitely enjoy pretending to be.
I will update really soon, I promise.
Bye for now.

HOST FAMILY!!!!!
FINALLY!!
Hi guys! So I finally got a host family. It was also about time.
I mean; I've been super stressed about it. Thinking, maybe no one wanted me... But I got a family and a place to be.
They seem like such kind people! It's a mum, a dad, a daughter and a son. The girl is a little younger than me and so is the boy.
They live in Hastings, near the sea, kinda (: The girl sings all the time, I've been told - which is great, 'cause so do I. I don't think a second goes by without me singing. The boy plays for Hastings United, which is a football club. I think I'm going to fit in very well, considering I play football too and have been doing that since the age of 5 (:
They're experienced because they've had an exchange student before, so that's lovely.
I've also got my school. I'm gonna be going to Bexhill College. I'm actually a bit nervous how people are gonna welcome me. Like, are they gonna be nice or what's going to happen when I get there? I mean, I'm in a foreign country, on unknown territory - if you know what I mean.
Well they told me there are some football clubs or that I'm gonna be able to follow my passion about football. If I couldn't play football, I'd be seriously depressed. But that's not the case here. Yay! (:
But I'm also excited because Hastings is a city with a lot of history behind it. I'm very interested in ancient history so going to a city that's got so much history, behind and around it, is just amazing.
But erm, yeah.... That was a little update from me xx

A Year Abroad
Hi guys! My name is Helena and this is my very first post. Since this is my first post, I thought I'd share the whole idea of this blog.
So, as the title says, I'm going a year abroad. After the summer, I'm going to the UK to study. But it's just instead of a gap year at home, doing nothing. I think it could be fun to experience the world.
I am terrified at the thought of going a totally new place. I don't know anyone, don't know the city and I'm not allowed for my family to visit throughout the whole year :( That's what's scaring the shit out of me. I'm actually a bit afraid that my family and friends are going to forget me, while I'm gone. I know people are like: "you're too special to forget" or "it's just a year", but hell no! It's not just a year! A lot can happen in a year and they're going to get new friends and meet new people and then it's goodbye to little me *sad music*
Besides, my parents have talked about getting an exchange student, while I'm gone. He/she is gonna live in my bedroom, and maybe take my place... I don't really know what to think about it :/
Anyways, I've been asked 10000000 times why I chose to go to the UK and actually, I don't really know. I think it's because it fits me better than, maybe USA might have. It's more... How can I explain it? Me. I just think I'd fit in better over there. I'm just really fascinated by the whole culture. Besides; London is one of my favorite cities in the whole wide world. It's just so beautiful and unique, and all the small villages outside London, like Winchester, are so cute and so, kind of, vintage.
Well, that was my thoughts about the whole "leaving home" thing. And this whole blog is gonna be about my year abroad. Of course I'm gonna post other things that aren't related to "the year abroad".
And now I will leave you with some pictures of the UK :)
Like Ellen DeGeneres would say: "Be kind to one another".
